Artist and Pain

Life is impossible without light and air, fish can’t live without water.Same like that an artist can’t be an artist without pain,if you take away an artist from pain then his creativity would die and he’d be no more an artist. By me

  1. Reminds me of a movie I saw called Raise Your Voice:

“Mr. Torvald: Well, you’re an artist and artists feel things differently than regular people. Look at Patsy Cline or Billie Holiday. You can hear it in their voice. Or, Vincent van Gogh. Cut off his ear, but hey, he could paint.

Terri Fletcher: Vincent van Gogh killed himself.

Mr. Torvald: That’s right. That’s a bad example. Hey, I’m a music teacher not a shrink. What do you want? I guess… what I’m trying to say is, artists convey emotion. They make an audience feel what they’re feeling. You know, that’s what it’s all about, right? You just have to find a way to take what’s in here
    [Points to his head]

Mr. Torvald: and put it in here
    [points to his heart] “

    1. wow thanks a lot for such a long and detailed comment 🙂 thank you very much for your words and time you spent on my blog 🙂 Realities dont change you know so we say same things with a little bit changes and differences. Thanks again, Kim 🙂

  2. It’s true. I don’t know what it is but being an artist certainly brings a lot of pain. There is a need to create. If you aren’t creating, you feel stifled. Sometimes I think it would be nice to instead have an insatiable desire to be an accountant. Oh, how life would be so much easier if my favorite thing was doing math! But nooo…the curse of the artist means I am doomed to a life of suffering for my creativity.

    1. even your id starts with artist so you’re a true artist : but still am not sure that whats you pain actually 😦 whats empty space inside your soul? Still thats a huge question for me, Heather

      1. It’s that being an artist means you’ll always suffer for your art. For instance, I could make a ton of money doing something like being a lawyer, or an accountant…but I would never be happy…so instead I work hard, all the time…because of a need to create 🙂

      2. heather, trust me you wont be happy without pain because you;re an artist, You always need pain for your satisfaction. If art is a vehicle then it needs fuel of pain.

      3. yeah no artist can help with that. You know artists have high rate of donors because when they dont find pain inside ;em then they start feeling others pain.

  3. Agreed. Especially in acting or poetry, even how art is conveyed thru ones canvas….Pain is the source of true artistry because it brings strong emotion to those touched by the artist. Great quote.

  4. Oh wow, I love that!! We are so on the same wave-length. I think pain makes us more sensitive and thus more perceptive whether in writing, poetry, art, moving and still images, etc.. Look how many artists past had so much pain inside using their medium as an outlet. A great quote my friend 🙂
